Chu Tao is 'the way to get a monarch', i.e. the artwork of ruling. Each faculty of philosophy has its tao, its doctrine of how by which life need to be requested. Ultimately in a selected faculty of philosophy whose followers came to be termed Taoists, tao meant 'how the universe performs'; and finally some thing really like God, in the more abstra
